Running The Cross Keys

A new chapter in the life of the Cross Keys began on 24th November 2017 when it finally passed into the hands of the Members of Redgrave Community Society Limited.  It had now become a community pub, owned by more than 240 people.

Fortunately, the pub was structurally sound, but in need of considerable work cosmetically which was largely achieved through the hard work of willing volunteers over the course of the next few months.  Work commenced with the spacious staff flat upstairs followed by the public rooms downstairs.

A new chef and general manager commenced employment on 22nd January 2018 and the Cross Keys opened its doors again on 3rd March 2018, firstly with drink sales only, but followed a few days later with a full restaurant menu.

The Cross Keys is now run by Heidi Woodrow (Bar and Restaurant Manager) and Graeme Worackaer (Chef) supported by the Management Committee. There are volunteer and paid staff  who provide table service and tend the bar on a rota basis.  There are also kitchen assistants who support Graeme in the kitchen  and volunteers who help with many other aspects of the day-to-day running of the pub. The CrossKeys management are enormously grateful for the volunteer support they receive.

The pub is now a vibrant hub within the community, continuing to offer an ever-increasing variety of activities and themed nights to appeal to the wide-ranging interests of those it serves.

Within the first three months the Cross Keys was awarded the TripAdvisor 2018 Certificate of Excellence and has recently received the 2019  Certificate of Excellence.   High praise indeed for this new community pub!

If you would like to get involved in the running of the pub as a volunteer, we would be delighted to hear from you.
